About the event
Join Desi Writers' Lounge (DWL) at the Karachi library as they host National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) write-ins in Pakistan for the fourth year running!
NaNoWriMo is a global challenge that takes place every November, in which writers have to attempt a first draft of their novel in 30 days. The goal is to write 50,000 words between 1st and 30th November.
Most participants stay connected to the NaNoWriMo community through the website (nanowrimo.org), where they track their progress. However, in several locations all over the world, physical write-ins are organised for participants to meet and work together towards their 50,000-word goal.
Participants will meet from 3:00 to 5:00 pm every Saturday in November, to catch up on their word counts, share their experiences, and write, write, write!
Desi Writers' Lounge (DWL) is an online collective for South Asian writers and a plat-form for writing on South Asia that is powered entirely by volunteers. With ten years of dedicated effort and groundbreaking initiatives under its belt, today DWL runs online forums for peer review, a literary magazine called Papercuts, an international short story competition, a poetry competition, a global network of book clubs, and an education and training programme for writers and readers.
The DWL write-in sessions started with officially hosting NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) in 2015 and 2016. Physical write-ins are a big part of NaNoWriMo, a global challenge in which participants have to write 50k words in 30 days.
The sessions are for ages 18 and above.
