Calling all wordsmiths and poetry aficionados! The British Council Lahore Library is thrilled to be hosting highly acclaimed UK poet and professor of poetry, Ruth Padel, for an afternoon of verse and rhythm, and an opportunity to learn just how to appreciate poetry in all its forms.
Professor Padel will be taking us on a journey of exploration through select works of modern poetry and teaching us just to extract meaning and joy from some favourite verses.
About the Facilitator:
Ruth Padel is a Poet and Greek Scholar with interests in modern Greece, classical music and wildlife conservation. She is Professor of Poetry at King’s College London and has published twelve books of poetry including ‘Darwin: A Life in Poems’; the best-selling verse biography, of her great great-grandfather Charles Darwin. She has also authored a novel and eight non-fiction works including studies of Greek tragedy and a first-hand account of wild Tiger conservation across Asia. She has been awarded the First Prize in the National Poetry Competition, a British Council ‘Darwin Now’ Fellowship and a Cholmondley Prize from the Society of Authors. She is a Trustee of ‘New Networks for Nature’, and a Fellow of both the Zoological Society of London and Royal Society of Literature.
