About the event
Our teen reading group’s November pick is Becky Albertalli’s moving, coming-of-age debut book about friendship, love and identity. This bitter-sweet page turner will have you rethinking the contemporary novel and questioning most media representations of teen relationships.
Sixteen-year-old Simon is struggling with high school. An email gone astray may just upset the careful balance he has maintained so far between his two disparate personas. Now he finds himself being blackmailed, his friends are acting strange, and his maddeningly addictive correspondence with an anonymous person has him deeply doubting himself.
Will Simon ever discover the identity of the apparently perfect Blue? Will his oldest and strongest friendships survive junior year? Can he keep the whole school from finding out the secret he desperately wants to hide? Should he even try?
Read the book, and come join like-minded teens as we discuss the answers to these questions and more- over some snacks of course.
Library members can borrow copies from the library; however, our copies are limited and available on a first come first serve basis.
