Our first Bookish of the year features Ransom Riggs eerie debut book about strange children and even stranger vintage photographs. Join us for an afternoon of spirited (pun intended) discussion and delicious hot chocolate.

Jacob world is turned upside by the horrific murder of his grandfather and the latter’s dying words lead him to a remote island in Wales. There he is drawn to a crumbling, abandoned orphanage that is the source of fantastic rumours and terrifying stories. Was the orphanage really, once populated by children who could levitate, summon fire, see into the future and bring back the dead? And could they possibly still be there?

Raid your family albums and bring us the strangest black and white photos you can find! After the discussion we’ll be mixing them up and using them to construct our very own Ransom Riggs style story. Limited copies are available for members to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis.

This event is FREE and open to the public and is appropriate for ages 13 to 19. Prior registration is mandatory; walk-ins will not be allowed. If you face any difficulty in registering for this event, please write to us at librarylhr@britishcouncil.org.pk.
