About the event
Tired of reading the same old tropes in every romance book you pick up? Sick of the rehashed plots and predictable character development? Look no further than Rainbow Rowell’s bestselling novel for an entirely fresh take on this age old genre!
Eleanor and Park are two 16 years olds with very different lives. Eleanor is bullied for her clothes and her looks and deals with an abusive step-parent at home. Park struggles with racism and an inability to meet his parent’s expectations.
Sharing a seat on the school bus results in a growing friendship that would be ordinary in the hands of a less skilful writer but Rowell charts the course of this doomed romance to tell us a beautiful story of first love and difficult childhoods that’s almost impossible to put down or forget.
Come join us and other like-minded teens as we discuss the book, with snacks of course.
