A Scandal in Bohemia: A Theatre Production and Workshop by Struts and Frets | Karachi

Friday 5th April 19:00 20:30

The game's afoot at the Karachi library as we bring to you Sherlock Holmes as you’ve never seen him before!

About the event

This April, prepare to see Sherlock Holmes as you’ve never seen him before! We’re collaborating with UK-based theatre company Struts and Frets to bring you a specially-commissioned, all-female theatre production of the iconic Sherlock Holmes’ story, A Scandal in Bohemia at the Karachi library.

This 90-minute Victorian merry-go-round will be a roller coaster ride of 6 women playing hundreds of characters while Holmes and Watson expose crimes, solve mysteries, cheat death and make it safely back home in time to feed the dog.

Using music composed specially for the production, puppetry, magic and some questionable Victorian melodrama in a high-energy, gender-bending, comedic pantomime, we’ll also be tackling wider topics of fake news, feminism and sheer force of will as we fly through the legend of Irene Adler’s great escapade, bringing in some of Sherlock Holmes’ favourite other stories and characters.

And it doesn’t end there! Following the performance, Struts and Frets will run two tailored, back to back workshops that discuss and apply the themes raised in the production. Through collaboration and a series of fun activities, participants will get to take on many roles and devise their own short piece to show their peers in a supportive environment.
