Summer Reading Challenge 2017 | Karachi

Saturday 1st July 14:00 - 17:00

The British Council Karachi Library brings the Summer Reading Challenge to you this summer, to help your children find new books to read, get certificates and a party at the end of the challenge!

About the event

Every year, thousands of families all over the world take part in the UK’s biggest reading event for children in libraries, the Summer Reading Challenge. The British Council Karachi Library brings the challenge to you this summer, to help your children find new books to read, get certificates and a party at the end of the challenge!

The theme for the 2017 Summer Reading Challenge is Animal Agents, illustrated by the UK's best-selling children's illustrator Tony Ross.

This summer there's something peculiar happening at the Karachi library - and that's where the Animal Agents come in! From learning about that dinosaur to solving the case of the graffiti, children will join in the fun with the Animal Agents by reading along. All participants will receive a sticker sheet and other literary goodies to keep track of their reading progress.

At the end of the challenge, children who successfully read six books within the month, will receive a certificate and an invitation to the Harry Potter party at the end of the month.

All books must be part of the library collection. Library staff will facilitate and help you identify appropriate books for the challenge.

The challenge is for ages 5 to 11 and for members and their families only. It will open with an Orientation Session at the library on Saturday, 1 July 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Participants’ attendance is highly encouraged.

End Date: Sunday, 30 July 2017

Participation Fee: PKR 500

To register, please email librarykhi@britishcouncil.org.pk with your name, the name and age of your children who will be participating, and your Library Membership number.
